Gary Andrews & Egbert Powell- "C" Flight Winners
On the brink of the big Ohio State versus USC game, 19 Columbus golfers took to the course as a warm-up. The host course, Little Turtle Golf Club, was ready and up for the challenge. At the end of the day it was a no-brainer, the course won this match. The talk of the day was that of the greens and pin placements. One golfer came in with 42 putts on the day. Needless to say, the greens were tough to read.
When it was all said and done only one golfer broke 90. That golfer was the A flight winner Eric Croker who shot an 87 after 18 holes of golf. Eric is a multiple winner on the eGolf Tour this year and he continues to build up his trophies. Coming in second for the A flight was Brad Herpolsheimer. Brad finishes second based on a scorecard playoff with Jared “I need to get to the Buckeyes game†Minor. Both players shot a 91 on the day.
The B flight needed 20 holes to decide a winner. Jon Long and Buddy McBride both came in with a 96 on the scorecard. So off to #1 they went. Both players tied on hole number one so hole number two was to be the decider. After the hole, Jon Long was able to score one less than Buddy to take home the trophy. Finishing third for the B flight was Melvin Harrington.
The playoff drama didn’t stop with the B flight. The C flight also needed an extra hole to decide the winner. The top two guys in the season long point race headed to number one to decide the winner. Gary Andrews and Egbert Powell, both shot 97, only needed one hole to determine the winner. Gary birdies #1 to claim the trophy. Rounding out the top three was Howard Pavlofsky with a 98.
William Gilstrap was the only D flight player in today’s tournament. William played to his handicap and was feeling good after the round.
Our next tournament will be at The Player’s Club at Foxfire on September 26th. Start time is 9 am. Hope to see everyone there.
