Phillip Petitti- "D" Flight Winner
Thorn Apple Country Club proved to be not much of a test today for the winners. The weather was perfect and so was the golf. A total of 26 golfers took to the course ready for battle in the 13th event of the year.
In the Championship Flight it took an extra hole to decide the winner. Todd Barnes and Troy Boswell came in with even rounds of 72 on the day. So off to number one they went for hole number nineteen. It only took one extra hole to decide the winner. And that winner was Troy Boswell. Todd Barnes finished second followed by Tim Pickering (75) and John Fryman (76).
The A flight saw the return of John Winters and he did not disappoint. Winters turned in a round of 77 to take home the first place trophy. Hyo-seung Lee playing in just his second event of the year comes in second (he won two weeks ago at Deer Ridge) with a round of 78. Craig Stewart and his round of 81 rounds out the top three.
The B flight saw Eric Croker put together a terrific round to take home the first place trophy. Croker fires a great round of 77 to move even closer to the top of the season long points total leader board. Finishing right behind Croker was Tom McCormack and John Ward and their rounds of 85.
The C flight was the home of some pretty good scores. Gary Andrews breaks into the winners circle for the first time this season with a round of 83. Behind Andrews was three golfers all tied with 87’s. Howard Pavlofsky won the tie break with a par on the number one handicap hole. Egbert Powell and Zavier Neeley were the other golfer’s tied with Pavlofsky. Congrats to Gary Andrews on your first win of the season.
The D flight was the smallest on the day with only two golfers. Coming out on top was Phillip Petitti for his second win in a row (he won at Deer Ridge two weeks ago). Tank Burbridge finished second. Congratulations Phillip.
The final event for the Columbus golfers will be The Players Club at Foxfire on October 5th. If anyone wants more information or wants to play just visit www.amateurgolftour.net or contact Larry Lee at ldlee@amateurgolftour.net or call at 864-491-0129.
