Jared Minor and Steve Lawrence- "A" Flight Winners
Tournament number 11 for the Columbus golfers was played this past Sunday August 24th at the Granville Golf Course in Granville, Ohio. A total of 27 golfers took to the course in hopes that they would beat the rain, which they did. A number of golfers returned to the tour after various lengths in absences. The golf was great, the day was hot and the competition was intense. In the Championship flight, John Fryman continued his impressive play on the tour this year. Fryman fired a round of 2 over par 73 to take home the first place trophy. Coming in second was Tim Pickering with a round of 75. Anthony Burbridge and Bill Esch round out the top three with their rounds of 76 on the day. Congratulations again to John Fryman on his victory. The A flight was a heated battle all the way through the 18th green. At the end of the day Steve Lawrence and his round of 83 stood on top of the A flight list. Steve’s round was quite impressive considering that he did not have time to hit the range before he teed off. Coming in second was Jared Minor and his nice round of 85. Rounding out the top three was Craig Stewart and his 86. Congratulations Steve on your first win of the season  The smallest flight of the day was the B flight. But that did not stop Angel Padilla. Angel came into the tournament today leading the season long point total for the B flight. After his round of 87 and his first place victory he extended that lead. Coming in second was Dennis Henderson and his round of 90. The biggest flight of the day was the C flight. With 11 guys in the C flight fighting it out for points and position, the last laugh went to Aaron Cox. Aaron put together a great round by shooting an 86 on the day. Coming in second was Keith Powell and his round of 88. Keith Weaver and Buddy McBride tied for third place by firing rounds of 89. Congratulations to Aaron on his second victory of the year. The D flight was won by Robert “Tank” Burbridge. This is Tanks second win in a row and his third win of the season. Tank fired a 94 on the day edging out Phillip Petitti by three strokes. Finishing third in the D flight was Eric Gabriel. The next stop for the Columbus golfers will be Deer Ridge Golf Club on September 7th.
