William Gilstrap- "D" Flight Winner
Eagle Sticks Golf Club in Zanesville, Ohio played host to the Columbus golfers today. Eagle Sticks is a great course with a great layout. Some very challenging holes and some drivable par four’s make this course a favorite. The day was hot and humid but that didn’t bother the golfers as they attacked the course.
For the second time this season, Ryan Troup was flying solo in the Championship flight. However, the lack of competition didn’t stop Ryan from putting together a great round of golf. Ryan walked of 18 green with an even par 70 on the day. Ryan also won 2 skins. Congratulations Ryan on a great round today.
The A flight saw some pretty good golf as well today. Aided by 3 birdies, Zach Griffith turned in a great round with a 74 on the scorecard. Following close behind Zach was Jared “I never miss a tournament†Minor and his round of 77. Jared carded two birdies on the day and was able to win a skin on one of them. When asked about his round all Jared had to say was “I couldn’t get the speed of the greens down today.†Regardless Jared, that’s a good round. Finishing in third for the A flight was Chris Lange.
In the B flight there were two golfers that posted scores in the 70’s today. Brad Herpolsheimer was low man in the B flight with a round of 76 on the day. Brad probably had the shot of the day today. On the par 4 fourth, Brad drove the green and his ball stopped about “2 inches†from the hole. A tap in eagle followed. Great shot Brad. Also finishing in the 70’s today was Dennis Henderson who posted his second straight 78. Dennis seems to be getting his game ready for the big national tournament in October.
Returning to the winners circle in the C flight was Keith Weaver. Keith posted a score of 85 (40-45) to take home his second first place trophy of the season. Keith also won the closest to the pin today. Howard Pavlofsky came in second in the C flight with his round of 87. Howard also won the only skin in the C&D flight today.
A very big congratulations goes out to Mr. William Gilstrap! Not only did William post his best score of the tournament season, he also won his first trophy of the season. When asked how it felt to win, all William said was “Finally!†Again, congratulations William and keep up the good work.
August 29th will be the next event for the Columbus golfers. We will be playing at Apple Valley in Howard, Ohio.
