Ryan Richards, Craig Stewart & Jared Minor- 2008 "A" Flight Champions!
The Columbus division of the eGolf Amateur Tour came to an end on Sunday October 5th at Foxfire Golf Club. A total of 40 golfers took on the Player’s Club course in quest of trophies, points and end of the year bragging rights. The weather was absolutely perfect for the golfers and the course played tough. A great way to end the year.
In the Championship flight newcomer Zach Sebert shot a two under par 70 to take home first place. Zach also won 3 skins and the closest to the pin to take home a good chunk of money in his first event on tour. Coming in second was John Fryman who shot a 78 on the day. Tim Ford rounds out the top three. For the season, John Fryman was top dog in the Champ flight. Coming in second was Todd Barnes followed by Troy Boswell in third.
The A flight was decided in a playoff between Mr. Consistent Jared Minor and Hyo-Seung Lee. Both players came in after 18 with scores of 85. Off to #1 they went. Minor defeated Lee on that hole and took home first place on the day. The season long points total finished up like this, Minor takes home first place, Craig Stewart second and Ryan Richards third.
The B flight saw another newcomer, John Ward, take home first place. This is John’s second tournament of the year. Ward fired a terrific round of 81 to overtake Angel Padilla and his round of 89. Rounding out the top three was Eric Croker and his round of 91. For the season Angel Padilla held onto the top spot to take home first place. Angel also won ½ season paid for next year for competing in every event this year. Finishing second for the season was Eric Croker. Rounding out the top three was Dennis Henderson.
The most competitive flight all year long has been the C flight. The C flight consistently had the most golfers at each tournament and the closest battles day in and day out. Today was no different. Finishing first today was Aaron Cox with a round of 85. Second place belong to Raymond Chamberglain with his 86 and Egbert Powell finishes third with an 87. The season point totals came down to this event. After it was all said and done Raymond Chamberglain was standing on top of the C flight. Second place belonged to Egbert Powell. Keith Weaver rounds out the top three for the season.
The D flight saw the return of a few players. Ray Autenrieb was one of those players. Good thing he decided to play today. Ray took Tank Burbridge into a playoff for the first place trophy today. After that playoff hole, Ray was the winner. This win vaulted Ray into the top three for the season. Finishing first on the season was Tank Brubridge followed by Philip Pettiti and Ray Autenrieb.
Congratulations to all the winners today and for the season. We hope to see you all in Hilton Head Island for the Tour Championship. If we don’t see you there check out the website and look at the 2009 schedule.
We hope everyone had a great time this year. Good luck to those of you who are headed to Hilton Head and lets bring home that Team Championship!
