Michael Calevski and Aaron Brownsword- "B" Flight Winners,
On a beautiful Saturday morning in central Ohio, 32 golfers from the Columbus Tour took to the course on a mission to beat up a tough Clover Valley golf course. The course had the last laugh.
In the Championship flight Tim Pickering was able to hold off hard charging Troy Boswell and Tim Ford for the win. Tim shot a solid 75 on the day and had a number of clutch putts and great up-and-downs to seal the victory. Both Boswell and Ford finish the day two shots back with 77’s.
The biggest flight of the day was the A flight. The competition was intense and the scores were close all day long. Taking home the top spot was Simon Kish and his round of 76. Jared Minor finishes second with a 77 while Todd Coil rounds out the top three with a 78. The shot of the day came from the A flight and Simon Kish had it with an incredible eagle on number 15. Left with 125 yards into the green on a lengthy par 4, Kish blasted a pitching wedge out of 3-feet high grass and jarred it into the cup for an eagle. Great shot is all that needs to be said.
The B flight saw good friends tie for the lead after 18 holes. Aaron Brownsword and Michael Calevski both came in with 81 on the card. Off to #1 they went for the playoff. It only took one hole for Aaron to best his buddy by one and take home that first place trophy. To pour salt on the wound, this was Aaron’s first event and it was Michael that talked him into playing. What a way to say thanks.
The C flight players struggled all day long. With scores ranging from 89 to 104, the group was all over the board. At the end of the day Egbert Powell was able to take home another victory and pull even further away in the season long points total. Coming in second was John Barnes with Howard Pavlofsky right behind him.
The D flight saw Zachary Davis take home yet another victory. And yet again Steven Root was right behind battling with him all round long. Rounding out the top three was William Gilstrap.
Congratulations to all the golfers and to Simon Kish for that great shot. Hope to see everyone at Darby Creek on July 11th.
