Soggy and Wet Conditions Can’t Stop Players From Going Low!

Bob Ubbing, Krishna Reddy and Richard Smialek- "B" Flight Winners
The rain came in on Friday and it pounded Westchester Golf Course. A total of 41 golfers came out and played at Westchester despite the 7:30 am start time and the wet golf course. When the players stepped up to the first tee, they all saw “ponds” where there weren’t any the day before. It was safe to say that lift, clean and place was much needed today. The Championship Flight saw John Fryman shoot the first under par round of the season. John used a total of four birdies to card a 71 on the par 72 course. John, who is one of the most consistent players on the course, stayed calm and patient throughout the round to take home the first place trophy. Finishing second was Ryan Troup and his score of 74. Jeff Maier and Bill Esch tied for third with an 80 while Hyo-Seung Lee rounds out the group with an 81. The good scores continued into the A flight. Todd Coil put together a round of 77 to take home the top spot in the A flight by one stroke. Todd stuck to his game plan and made very few mistakes during the round. It took a scorecard playoff to determine the second and third place golfers. Jim Sellers and Mike Bilderback both finished 18 holes with a 78 on their scorecard. Lucky for Jim he made par on the number one handicap hole while Mike made bogey. Even more low scores carried into the B flight. Richard Smialek turned in a score of 78 after 18 holes to take home the top spot today. Richard also won the closest to the pin hole for the B flight. Needless to say, it was a good round for Richard. Finishing second was newcomer Krishna Reddy with an 81. Bob Ubbing put together a round of 83 to secure third place. The C flight saw Keith Weaver put together his first sub 80 round in four years playing on the eGolf Amateur Tour. Weaver went 39-39 to card a 78 and take home the top spot in the C flight today. Finishing second was Dan Workman and his 84 on the day. Rounding out the top three was Bethany Selan who put together a solid 85 in the tough conditions. The D flight saw a new face at the top of the list. Scott Allen was able to knock off two-time defending champ Wayne Dawson to take home the trophy by two strokes. William Gilstrap rounds out the top three while Shawn Augustson takes home fourth place. The next event for the Columbus eGolf Tour members will be June 5th at Deer Ridge Golf Course in Belleville. This will be a combination event with the North Central Ohio tour. Tee times will start at 10 am. Get signed up early for this event on one of Ohio’s best courses.
