Ryan Richards and Jared Minor- "A" Flight Winners
The Columbus golfers reached their halfway point of the season this past Saturday when they played at Clover Valley Golf Club in Johnstown, Ohio. The day was perfect for golf and the golfers took to the course ready to battle it out.
5 = the number of tournaments that John Fryman has played in and won this season. Fryman came into the Clover Valley tournament ready to keep his hot streak going, and he accomplished that goal. It wasn’t easy for him as Tim Pickering and Troy Boswell finished tied with Fryman after 18 holes with a score of 78. Off to a playoff the three went. After the first playoff hole John Fryman was standing alone in first place. Tim Pickering came in second and Troy Boswell rounded out the top three.
2 = the number of times that Jared Minor has won this year. Though it may seem like Jared has won more tournaments than two, Clover Valley was win number two for him. When asked how he has so many points, all Jared had to say was, “I haven’t been out of the top five in any tournament.†Ryan Richards put together a great round of 80 but fell one stroke behind Minor’s 79. Todd Coil rounded out the top three with a round of 82.
2 = Angel Padilla’s win total for the season. Clover Valley marked the second win on the season for Angel Padilla who captured his first victory at Bent Tree. Angel said he hasn’t been playing all that well lately but was able to put together a round of 90 to capture the first place trophy in the B flight. Following close behind Angel was Eric Croker and Brad Durnell and their rounds of 91.
2 = the second win in a row and the second win of the season for Billy Chang. Billy put together a tremendous round today to capture first place. Billy came off the 18th hole with a score of 82 and was eager to see if that score would hold up. It did. Raymond Chamberglain came in second with a round of 90 followed by a three way tie for third place.
3 = the number of times that Homer Logan has won through the first half of the season. Homer won two tournaments in a row before coming up short the last three weeks before returning to the winners circle today at Clover Valley. Homer did have to work for the victory today by heading into a playoff with none other than Keith Weaver. Logan and Weaver have battled it out all season and today was no different. The playoff between the two was drama filled. It came down to a putting contest and Logan needed one less putt than Weaver to take home first place. The win sets up a great second half for the D flight. Logan now has three wins on the season; as does Weaver. The players are sitting one-two in the point standings for the season long championship as well.
With the first half done and out of the way, the second half looks to be a great finish towards the end of the season. Each flight has a number of players with-in striking distance of the season long points total. Good luck to every player.
