Cham Kahari and Howard Pavlofsky- "C" Flight Winners
The Columbus golfers have now played nine tournaments on the season and the competition is getting tighter. A total of 38 golfers were up to the challenge that Darby Creek threw at them today. The weather was beautiful, the course was in great shape and the attitudes from the golfers couldn’t have been better. In the Championship flight Troy Boswell came through with his second victory of the season. Troy battled all day long with Mark Leonard to take home a one shot victory at the end of the day. Troy finished the round with a one over par 73. Leonard’s 74 was good enough to take home second place while Anthony Burbridge and Tim Ford finished tied for third with rounds of 76. The A flight saw Ryan Richards finally emerge as a winner after multiple weeks of runner-up finishes. When asked about his victory, all Ryan said was “It’s about time.” Richards finished the round with an impressive 74 followed by Alex Leader and his round of 76. Jared Minor rounds out the top three with a good round of 78. Eric Croker was tested from the tee box on hole #1 to the green on hole #18 by Angel Padilla. Croker was able to stand tall and came off the 18th green with a one shot victory. Croker put together a round of 89 followed by Angel’s round of 90. Billy Chang and Dennis Henderson finished tied for third with rounds of 93. The biggest flight of the day saw six golfers within four shots of first place. Cham Kahari was able to withstand the charge and secure a one shot victory. Cham’s round of 89 was one shot better than that of Howard Pavlofsky and Homer Logan who finished second and third respectively. The D flight was again sent to a playoff to determine the winner. Keith Weaver and John Barnes both finished with 87’s and needed one extra hole to determine the winner. This is the second time these two golfers have met up in a playoff to determine first place. Weaver was able to withstand the 19th hole and secure his fourth victory of the season. Rounding out the top three for the D flight was Matt Bowman and Robert “Tank” Burbridge and their rounds of 92. The golfers will now head to Shaker Run in Lebanon, Ohio for the second major of the year. The golfers will play August 9th and 10th in the double point event.
