Bethany Selan- "C" Flight Winner
The Links of Groveport was the host course for the 9th tournament of the year in Columbus. Forty three players came out to play in our third major of the year. With the points race getting tighter in each flight, this was a crucial tournament. The weather was great, and so were the scores.
In the Champ flight it was a battle all day with some of the tours best players competing. Ryan Troup made four birdies, shooting a great round of 72 on his way to his first win on tour this year. Bill Esch and Tim Ford were not far behind, both shooting 74. Bill takes 2nd place on a scorecard playoff.
The A flight was the biggest flight of the day with 12 players. It was really a three man race today between Eric Croker, Drew Dentinger, and Michael Alvarez. Coming off the 18th green Eric and Drew were dead even, both shooting solid rounds of 76. Drew pulled through on the 1st hole of the playoff, winning his first tournament of the year. Michael Alvarez shot 80 to round out the top three.
The B flight saw 11 players tee it up for top position today. Hack Fannon ran away with the tournament firing a 78, leading to a 9 stroke victory! John Smith and Dennis Henderson both shoot 87. Scorecard playoff goes to John.
The C flight was very competitive all day, with all of the scores pretty close. The top spot was taken by Bethany Selan. Beth put herself right back into the points chase by shooting 85 and winning her first tournment of the year. Her nearest opponent was the smooth swinging Bill Sluka. He takes home 2nd place with an 87.
The D flight had four players today. Wayne Dawson shoots a 99 to pull off a one stroke victory over Scott Allen. Wayne’s back to back wins help pad his already large lead in the season long points race.
Congratulations to all the winners today! Our next event is August 21st at Oakhaven Golf Course in Delaware. I hope to see everybody there. Sign up today so we can reserve a spot for you.
