Today the Columbus golfers took on The Brass Ring Golf Club in Logan, Ohio. Brass Ring isn’t a very long course but you have to golf your ball to put up a good score. The weather was perfect the course was in good condition and the golfers were ready for the challenge.
In the Championship flight Sunny Kang was able to break through with his first win on the season by firing a 78 on the day. Patient play was the key for sunny today. When trouble popped its head up Sunny was able to hold strong and persevere through. Hyo-seung Lee comes in second place with his steady round of 81 today.
The A flight saw Jared Minor break through with his first win of the season as well. Jared put together a steady round of 80 to take home that top spot. The win also moves Jared closer to the top spot in the season long points total, which he has won two years in a row. Coming in second was Kelly Parton and his round of 83.
Continuing with the first time winners trend was Justin Wang in the B flight. Justin put together a round of 88 to claim his first place trophy. No stranger to the top of the leaderboard was Buddy McBride, who finished in second place today.
Another flight, another first time winner. In the C flight Keith Weaver was able to come through with a three stroke victory over Egbert Powell and Gary Andrews. Weaver fired an 87 on the day while Andrews and Powell finish with 90’s. Powell takes home second place with a scorecard playoff.
The D flight saw Zachary Davis come away with his second win of the season. Steven Root was right in the hunt all round long but fell just two strokes short. William Gilstrap rounds out the top three.
Congratulations to all the winners today and a special thank you to Buddy McBride for his hospitality.
Our next tournament will be June 27 at Clover Valley Golf Club in Johnstown. This is a major championship so the points are doubled and the competition will be intense. Come join us for a great day of golf.
